How to make a simple photo collage

A collage turns a handful of photos into one shareable picture — perfect for a trip recap, a product line-up, a “best of the month” post, or a gift. You don't need a complicated collage maker with templates and accounts. For clean row or column collages, a straightforward merge tool does the job beautifully and keeps full control in your hands.

Step by step

1. Open StitchPic and add your photos with the upload boxes and the + Add image tile (up to 30).
2. Drag the order around using the up/down arrows until the sequence looks right.
3. Choose Horizontally for a single row or Vertically for a single column.
4. Under Resize images, choose Crop biggest for uniform tiles or Reduce biggest to keep whole photos.
5. Set spacing (try 12–20 px) and a background colour for the gaps.
6. Press Merge!, then Download PNG.

Row, column — or a grid?

StitchPic arranges images in a single line, either across or down. That covers most quick collages. To build a grid (say, a 2×2 or 3×3), use a two-step approach:

1. Merge each row first — combine photos horizontally and download each finished row.
2. Then load those row images back in and merge them Vertically.

As long as each row ends up the same width (use Reduce biggest or Crop biggest when building the rows), the final vertical merge produces a tidy grid.

Design tips for a collage that looks intentional

• Pick one spacing value and stick to it. Equal gaps everywhere read as “designed.” Uneven gaps read as “rushed.”
• Choose a background that supports the photos. White feels clean and modern; black makes colours pop; a tone pulled from the photos themselves ties everything together.
• Crop for consistency. Uniform tiles (via Crop biggest) usually look more polished than a mix of tall and wide photos.
• Mind the final shape. A long horizontal row suits banners and headers; a tall column suits phone screens and Pinterest.

Can I round the corners or add captions?

StitchPic focuses on combining images at full quality, so it doesn't add rounded corners or text. Add those touches afterwards in your phone's photo editor or the platform you're posting to, working from the merged PNG.
